Choquequirao Trek

Choquequirao to Machu Picchu, is a walk that connects the two most important archaeological sites in the Cusco region. AndeanHiking take them for these beautiful places like the last refuge Inca Choquequirao and wonder of the World Machu Picchu this is one of the most beautiful trekings since pass through very beautiful places like the Apurimac Canyon which is considered the deepest in the Cusco region and to pass the Canyon Apurimac (Choquequirao) and The Valley of Urubamba (Machu Picchu), we see many landscapes and lots of flora and fauna as well as we pass many altitudes.

Itinerary

FIRST ALTERNATIVE

First day:

We left Cusco very early at 5.am to go to the place called Capuliyoc (Starting point) Arriving approximately at 8.00am. We have breakfast and we start the tour until Chiquiska where we will have the lunch at 01:00 pm . At 02: 00 pm we continue to Playa Rosalina, (1500 m.a.s.l) and then we continue up to Santa Rosa arriving at 5.30pm approx. This is our first camp.

Second Day:

We wake up very early (05:00 am). Breakfast (5.30 am). At 6.00am we continue the Ascent until we reach Maranpata (3000 m.a.s.l.).Then we continue to reach Choquequirao by averaging 11:00 pm (3220metros) reaching the top where we will have lunch. After our lunch we will visit the different sectors of Choquequirao, then we return to the Marampata camp (5.45pm). Dinner and overnight

Third Day:

We woke up at 6.am. Breakfast 6.30am we start the walk to go down to the beach at 10:30 am Rosalina (1500m.s.n.m.) then continue up to the place of Quiquiska 1800 (m.s.n.m.) 12.am. Lunch. After our lunch we continue the ascent to the place called Coca MASANA (2400m.m.sn.m.) Camp.

Fourth day:

We wake up at 5.30am. Breakfast 6.am, we started walking at 6.30 am. Then we continue the ascent until we reach the place called Capuliyoc, arriving 10.30am, where we will have our lunch, finally we return to the city of Cusco arriving in at averaging time of 4.30pm.

SECOND ALTERNATIVE:

First day:

We left Cusco at 05:00 am to go to the place called Capuliyoc (starting point) arriving approximately at 8.00am. We have the breakfast and we start the trip until lunch (01:00 pm). We continue to Playa Rosalina, and then up to Santa Rosa arriving at averaging time of 5.30pm. (Height 2200 m.s.n.m). This is our first camp.

Second day:

We woke up at 6.00am. Breakfast at 06:45 am. We start walking at 7.30am. We continue the ascent to the place called Marampata (3000m.s.m.), arriving at averaging 11.00am where we will have a break for lunch, after lunch we continue at 01.00pm To get to the campsite in the lower part of Choquequirao at around 3:30 p.m. Rest, dinner and overnight.

Third day:

Wake up at 6.00am, breakfast in the morning at 6.30am, once we have eaten our food we go to visit the place of Choquequirao, leaving at 7.am. we will go to the first sector of Pikillacta, visit it, then we go to the sector of the House of the High Priest, we visit the ceremonial place Usnu, later, the main square, Urin, and Hanan, up and down part of Choquequirao, then take our food in a place allowed, then we will go to visit the sector of the ceremonial platforms flames, where we will have the opportunity to see the Apurimac canyon, and possibly see the flight of the condors. Then we return to the Marampata camp arriving at approximately 5.30pm where we can appreciate the sun’s entrance. Dinner and overnight

Fourth Day:

Wake up at 6.am. Breakfast at 06.30am then we start the walk to go down to Playa Rosalina arriving at 10.30am (1500m.s.n.m.) Then continue up to the place of Quikiska 1800 (m.s.n.m.) 12.am. lunch. After our lunch we continue the ascent to the place called Coca MASANA (2400m.m.sn.m.) Camp.

Fifth Day:

We wake up at 5.30am. Breakfast at 06.00 am, we start walking 6.30 am. We continue the ascent until we reach the place called Perolniyoc, arriving 10.30 am. Where we will have our lunch, then return to the city of Cusco arriving in Cusco at averaging 4.30pm.

THIRD ALTERNATIVE:

First day:

We left Cusco at 05:00 am to go to the place called Capuliyoc (starting point) arriving approximately at 8.00am. We have the breakfast and we start the trip until lunch (01:00 pm). We continue to Playa Rosalina, and then up to Santa Rosa arriving at averaging time of 5.30pm. (Height 2200 m.s.n.m). This is our first camp.

Second day:

Alarm clock 5.30 am, breakfast 6.00am, we left 6.30am. We continue the ascent to reach the place called Marampata, 9.45am. Then we continue to reach Choquequirao by averaging 11.30am. where we will visit the sector of Pikillacta, the House of the High Priest, then we will go to the ceremonial Usnu, later we will rest for our lunch in a permitted place, after our lunch we will visit the ceremonial place the Urin and the Hanan, top and bottom of Choquequirao to then go down to visit the part of the platforms of llamas, place where we will see the Apurimac canyon and see the flight of the condors, later we will go to the lower part of Choquequirao camp half an hour away. Dinner and overnight.

Third day:

Early morning 5.00am alarm clock, breakfast 5.30am. We go for a walk at 6.00am. We go up to Choquequirao to then take the detour and continue uphill to the viewpoint and then down to the valley of the Apurimac Canyon and continue through the white river valley 1500m.sn.m. Lunch, later we continue through the valley and then make a climb until we reach the Maizal camp, arriving at approximately 5.45pm. Overnight

Fourth day:

Alarm clock at 5.00 am. Breakfast at 5.30am and exit. At 06.00am we continue the ascent through the Vilcabamba Valley until we reach the upper part of the San Juan Pass 4150 m.sn.m, also known as Victoria Mines, an ascent of approximately three hours, from this place we can appreciate all the valley of the Vilcabamba, as well as to have luck we will be able to see the flight of the condors, and much diversity of flora and fauna typical of the micro climate of the Humid Montano Sub tropical Forest. Then we descend for about an hour until we reach Yanama at 3500.msn.m. Lunch. Then we take a private bus to go to Santa Teresa 1500 m.s.n.m, a journey of approximately four hours. Arriving averaging 5.30pm to the district of Santa Teresa, where we can enjoy the thermal baths of Cocalmayo, dinner and overnight.

Fifth day:

Alarm clock at 7:30 am .Breakfast at 8:00 am, and departure at 9:00 am, we go by bus to hydroelectric 45 minutes after Hydroelectric walk an average of half an hour to reach the place called San Miguel. Lunch. We continue the tour at 12:30 along the railway line where we can see lots of vegetation and the diversity of birds that exist in the route, finally we arrive at Aguas Calientes at 3:00 pm and then go to our lodgings, the night dinner and overnight.

OPTIONAL: In the morning from 07:30 am to 10:00 am, you can carry out the Zipline activity.

Sixth day:

Very early (04:00 am) we leave for the station to take the first bus leaving at 05:30 am to the city of Machupicchu, upon arriving at the citadel will have the guided tour, then we will have free time for you, if you wish you can make the reservation to climb the Huaynapicchu Mountain, as well as go to the Inti Punku or Puerta del Sol. In the afternoon return to the city of Cusco.
