Inca Trail

The classic or traditional Inca trail or Inca route to Machu Picchu is considered one of the best treks in the world due to its scenic beauty, diversity of flora and fauna existing in the route. It is the path most chosen by adventurers who want to live an experience like no other.

Itinerary

First day: Cusco, Piscacucho (km 82) and Huayllabamba.

Our staff will approach the hotel between 6:00 am and 6:30 am and then go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to reach the town of Ollantaytambo, where a brief stop to buy some supplies for the trek: water, fruit, rehydration, sunscreen, batteries for flashlights, hats, etc.   Later we continue our journey to reach the town of Piscacucho (located at km 82), where we will meet with staff who assist us during our journey.   At this point is the control of the park, whose staff we show our passports and tickets provided by our company, we start our trek along the banks of the Urubamba River to reach the archaeological complex Patallaqta (2750msnm), continue walking through a leafy area where we do have luck observe the giant hummingbird and after two hours we will arrive at our first camp, located in Huayllabamba.

During our tour we will reach a maximum height of 2954 m, minimum height of 2670 meters, the distance traveled is 12 km, walking time is 5-6 hours and camp at an altitude of 2954msnm.

Second day: Huayllabamba, Warmiwañusca and Pacaymayu.

After breakfast we continue our journey, crossing the most difficult part of the road, climb the pass of Warmihuañusca.   We walk through valleys, vegetation and cloud forests that possess unparalleled beauty to reach Llulluchapampa, a good place for a short break before ascending the pass of Warmihuañusca “Dead Woman”, this point is about 4200 meters along our tour will observe how the vegetation changes and reach the top, we will be offset by a beautiful view of the snow (Veronica) and Andean landscapes.

Then descend along a winding valley to reach a point where we stop for lunch continue until the Valle del rio Pacaymayu 3,600 meters where we spend the second night.

This day will reach a maximum height of 4200 m, minimum height of 3600 meters, the distance traveled is 16 km, walking time is 8 hours and camp at an altitude of 3600 meters.

Third day: Pacaymayo, Runkuracay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñaywayna.

After a hearty breakfast we trek towards the second open, Runkuracay, located about 3700 meters Sayaqmarca continue until reaching 3600 meters.   Continue our walk down to the third and final open, Phuyupatamarca 3665 meters, “Village above the clouds” which is undoubtedly one of the most original along the Camino Inca citadels.

After visiting this site, descend the stairs carved in rock to reach the citadel of Wiñaywayna 2700 m, which means “Forever Young”, is located at an altitude of 2700 meters, and the name derives thanks to the typical orchids can be found throughout the year with its flowers in red, yellow and purple.   This is possibly the most attractive of all the palaces in the path of the Inca Trail, and the last urban center before reaching Machu Picchu.

After exploring every corner of Wiñaywayna, we head to our last camp, which is located a few meters from the archaeological site and in the evening we will have a little party to say goodbye to the staff who accompanied us during the walk.

This day will reach a maximum height of 3800 m, minimum height of 2700 meters, the distance traveled is 16 km, walking time is 8 hours and camp at an altitude of 2700 meters.

Fourth day: Wiñaywayna, Intipunku and Machu Picchu.

This day we get up early to have breakfast and then continue our hike to the area Intipunku or Sun Gate (2,490 m).   This point is an excellent place from where you can take panoramic photos of the citadel of Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu and the Urubamba River valley.   You are encouraged to leave very early to see the sunrise at Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas.   Then descend to tour the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, we will have a guided an average of 2 hours and will be provided free time for them to explore Machu Picchu on your own tour, then will return to Machu Picchu village where you will take the train to to the city of Cusco and once arrived at the station a representative of our company will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

This day will reach a maximum height of 2732 meters, the distance traveled is 4 km walking, walking time is 2 hours.
